SPEAKING

Imagine you are shopping with your girlfriend/boyfriend and you’ve just found an expensive winter jacket that you really want to buy. What would you say to the shop assistant? What would you say to your girlfriend/boyfriend?


PRONUNCIATION: e, æ

Listen to the pairs of words. They have very different meanings and they are pronounced differently.



In the first word in each pair the vowel is pronounced as [e], the sound similar to the Polish [e]. In the second word, however, the sound is different [æ], as if between Polish [e] and [a].
