Showing interest

In a conversation, it is very important (and polite) to show that we are interested in the other speaker, in his/her experiences and opinions. Imagine you have a chance to talk briefly to the people you listened to in the previous exercise. Read what they say (clues 1-5) and respond appropriately. Below, you will find some useful phrases:

Great! / Brilliant! / Cool! / Wow!

How interesting!

That’s great/brilliant/fascinating/amazing.

That sounds interesting/great/brilliant/unbelievable.

Echo questions, e.g.

Have you?

Did you?

Is it?

Can you?

Tongue twisters How do you cope with the sounds of the English language? Not so easy? Listen to the three tongue twisters and repeat each several times. Finally choose the one you like best and learn it by heart.
