Look at the examples of the present perfect continuous below.

You look tired. Have you been working all day?

Why are you so dirty? What have you been doing?

Your English is quite good. How long have you been learning it?


These questions are in the present perfect continuous because they are about

people’s habits.

what people are doing now.

a continuous activity which started in the past and may still be happening now.

single activities that have been completed.
